No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you — there’s a new James West on GENERAL HOSPITAL! The role is now being played by child actor Gary James Fuller, who made his debut in the April 6 episode during the annual Nurses Ball. Since the little tyke is only just starting out on his show business career, this is the only credit on his IMDb page, but we’re sure that will change with time!
James West is the son of Nathan West and Maxie Jones, though sadly, his father was shot and killed in the line of duty before his baby boy could be born. And since GH is a soap, the child’s birth was naturally as dramatic as possible, with Peter helping Maxie deliver her son on the side of the road after it became clear he couldn’t get her to the hospital on time!
In 2018 James was portrayed as an infant by Sally Brown, then by Beau and Jet Marciano. In August 2019, the character was aged and played by twins Caleb and Kyler Ends for an episode. (They also took over as Wiley for a bit in 2021!) Then, in December 2019, James was de-aged a bit when Owen and Curtis Rufca stepped in.
Fuller first appeared at the 2023 Nurses Ball doing a magic act with his sister, Georgie, and their grandmother, Liesl, where they ended up making Obrecht disappear and were unable to bring her back! (She’d been kidnapped, though the kids weren’t to know that!). The cutie got more screen time recently in the May 19 episode as he enjoyed a meal at Kelly’s with his grandmother and chatted with Cody about going off to summer camp.
GH is really on a roll casting the cutest babies and kids these days! Here’s hoping we see more of James — and Fuller — in the future!
