General Hospital spoilers indicate Cody Bell’s (Josh Kelly) fate hangs in the balance. The latest spoilers suggest that Mac Scorpio (John J. York) is determined to save Cody from himself. Of course, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) probably doesn’t think Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) should meddle too much in this case.

It’s Cody’s private business if he engages with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) and if Mac wants to warn him, Mac should do that. He has already breached protocol by telling Sam. It’s on him if he wants to tip off a known criminal — that is what Cody is, after all. But Sam doesn’t see it that way and Dante knows it. Will he have to fill her in on the whole story to get her to understand where he’s coming from?

Sam wants to try to intervene and help Cody, but Dante worries her warning may not be appreciated. Who wouldn’t want to be tipped off and avoid trouble? On the other hand, Cody might feel like Sam is butting into his personal business – especially if he learns that she’s been spying on him as she investigates Selina. Cody might not take kindly to that, but it’s a risk Sam is probably willing to take. Besides, she knows Dante would have her back and she can tell it really matters to Mac.

Sam told Dante she thinks Mac is acting in Cody’s best interest because he’s so disappointed that the DNA revealed Cody wasn’t his son. That might sound like a stretch to some, but it makes plausible sense. Except Dante knows the truth. Sure, Mac is sad. Mac wishes Cody was his son. Mac was kind of pining for a child of his own after all these years in general. But Dante is going to let Sam know she missed the mark. The DNA test might seem like it explains Mac’s connection to Cody, but it goes deeper. The way Dante sees it, if Sam is going to get involved with this mess then she needs to know Mac is actually Cody’s dad.

Dante will tell Sam the truth,and she’s going to urge him to share it with Mac. But Dante isn’t going to betray his buddy that way. Plus, Cody has dirt on Dante. The good cop doesn’t have the wiggle room to betray Cody that way without any concern for how Cody might retaliate if he’s upset with him. This isn’t just a matter of Mac finding out the truth, but it would cost Cody a potential $10 Million if he botches his chance to sue the WSB. When Dante balks, Sam could move on to urging Cody to come clean on his own, but that may also have repercussions. For starters, Cody doesn’t think he deserves Mac as a dad after all that he’s done.
