Port Charles seems to be hit by a wave of amnesia on General Hospital. First, it was Esme Prince, after taking a jump off the parapet. Then it was Ned, after a slip by the Metro Court pool. While an amnesiac, Esme has been trying to gain back control of her life and bring stability in her son, Ace’s life, Ned has completely unraveled due to his amnesia. Moreover, the after affects could cause him to lose more than just his memory. His marriage with Olivia might just become a casualty too! But can this be blamed entirely on Ned’s amnesia? Or would Olivia have to share some of the blame too? Dive in to find out!
Olivia Refuses To Trust Ned
Ned and Olivia have been married for a long time on General Hospital. While the two do share a lot of love, their relationship has had its fair share of ups and downs. The recent one is the upheaval created by the accusations levied at Ned. We all know that Nina Reeves is the woman responsible for creating the whole SEC mess by leaking intel through Martin. However, when the news first broke out about the leak, the blame fell upon Ned. He relentlessly tried to defend his name, but nobody was buying it.
Worst of all, even Olivia refused to believe him on General Hospital. She was livid and completely unsupportive of her husband. Ned perhaps needed her support the most at that time, but she denied it. If one cannot even depend on their own spouse during an hour of need, then what really is left in the marriage to salvage? This could be a question that Ned might begin to wonder once he regains his memory. Because, as much as Olivia is still claiming to love Ned, she still is not being compassionate towards him.
Olivia Lashes Out At Ned (Eddie) on General Hospital
When Ned woke up after his fall on General Hospital, not only did he have no recollection of his current life, he had, in fact, drifted back to a different identity. His stage name is from the 90’s Eddie Maine. Currently, Ned does not remember his life as Ned Quartermaine and believes himself to be a musician by the name of Eddie. Consequently, he also refuses to recognize Olivia as his wife. This is certainly a cause of great stress and anguish for her. However, it is also to be noted that Ned is in a rather fragile state of mind, something that Olivia is clearly blind to.
In one of the recent episodes of General Hospital, when “Eddie” failed to make sense of his responsibilities towards his family as Ned, she really ripped into him and asked him to leave. Even on a whole, Olivia has shown absolutely no sympathy towards Ned’s situation, let alone empathy. It is not like he is purposely trying to act the way he is. The man does not remember his life. It is a very complicated situation and he needs love, care, and sympathy. Even Sonny handled him better than Olivia did!
Thus, we can’t help but wonder if Ned is going to be able to sustain that marriage for too long. Perhaps when he gains his memory back, he may realize how much she let him down.
