NCIS: Sydney Finale To End In A “Heartbreaking Way,” Agent Mackey Star Teases

NCIS: Sydney star Olivia Swann has teased the season 1 finale will be “heartbreaking,” indicating it has something to do with multiple cases in the season that are connected. The series follows a joint task force between the NCIS and the Australian Federal Police (AFP), investigating cases having to do with American military persons. At the same time, the personal stories of the show’s characters carry a particular weight to what happens.

Speaking with TV Insider, Swann, who portrays Agent Michelle Mackey in the cast of NCIS: Sydney, hinted at a devastating yet exciting finale having to do with an ongoing story arc. The actor teased that everything featured in the show will be tied together by the end of season 1, promising some twists along the way. Check out what Mackey had to say below:

There are a couple of twists and turns and reveals and all fun things like that, but it does all get kind of sewn together, and by the end of the season, we start getting a really big scope of what actually has been going on throughout the whole season. It accumulates in a very intense, very explosive, very heartbreaking way. I’m so excited for it to air because there’s some really, really cool stuff coming up.

What Could Happen In NCIS: Sydney’s Season 1 Finale?

The NCIS: Sydney team has already dealt with several harrowing situations, such as episode 5 showcasing a teenager with a bomb vest in a dog café. This episode also revealed Doc Roy’s wife has dementia, adding another secret to the number that has been revealed throughout the season. This includes Mackey herself, who doesn’t want her team to know she got soldiers killed by disobeying a direct order from a superior in Afghanistan.

In addition to team secrets, some cases – such as the one featured in episodes 1 and 3 – haven’t been fully resolved yet. These loose ends are likely to show up again in the future, possibly setting the stage for a potential NCIS: Sydney season 2. Even if that’s not how the cases’ resolutions will play out, there seem to be multiple unseen connections that will soon bring a bigger picture to the entire series.

While it’s unclear how NCIS: Sydney season 1 will end, Swann’s promises indicate it will be an unexpected finale culminating in everything the season has been exploring so far. Perhaps this will be in the form of a mastermind behind multiple unresolved cases, or major character moments that change the team’s dynamic. No matter what the future brings, it’s clear the spinoff is setting the stage for an engaging finale tying all its loose threads together.
