Those who tuned into the General Hospital 60th anniversary special prime time episodes, were in for a huge surprise! After the fun and frolic, right before the curtains fell, the iconic Steve Burton appeared on the screen! “Happy anniversary, GENERAL HOSPITAL. Stay tuned — big things are coming to Port Charles.” And by big things, he means Jason Morgan is coming back! Yup! It is confirmed that Steve is reprising his former role on the ABC soap.
The General Hospital official social media accounts have also stamped this return by posting a picture of Steve Burton alongside long-time co-stars – Laura Wright and Kelly Monaco. “Together again,” the caption declares. Honestly, this has been one of the most awaited returns on Daytime. Steve as Jason Morgan has remained one of the most loved characters on GH. Thus, when in 2021, he left due to a COVID vaccine mandate conflict, fans were heartbroken.
Although, considering that Steve parted on good terms with the production, the doors were open for his return to General Hospital. At the time he had shared his views on social media stating that he would love to return one day. And end his career as Jason Morgan on the ABC soap. However, he did accept that even if that didn’t happen, he will only have love and gratitude for the show, moving forward. But thankfully, it seems that old days are about to come back in Port Charles!

Steve first debuted on General Hospital in 1991. Back then, he was known as Jason Quartermaine. However, following a brain injury caused by a crooked car crash, he reinvented himself as Jason Morgan. And then there was no looking back. His trajectory as Jason Morgan, and his association with Sonny Corinthos created history on GH. Even his romances with Carly and Sam, have often been talked about! Which also makes us wonder, how will those dynamics play out when Steve returns as Jason. Both Carly and Sam are in relationships with other men.
Although, we can’t ignore the fact that a large section of the General Hospital fandom is not rallying behind either of those pairings. Thus, there is a chance that when Jason returns to PC, at least one of them is going to fall apart. but who will it be? Considering that his stint on Days of Our Lives is up, and he is already on GH sets, we guess we will have all our answers soon! Steve Burton can be expected to appear on the screen as Jason early in 2024!
