General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that in two emotional episodes airing on Wednesday, Jan. 10 and 11, fans will learn that Nurse Bobbie Spencer, played by the late, great Jacklyn Zeman, has died offscreen.
Zeman debuted on the ABC sudser in 1977 and was nominated five times for a Daytime Emmy. She passed away in May at the age of 70 after a short bout with cancer. Since its debut, General Hospital has won a record number of Outstanding Daytime Drama awards, surpassing all other soaps 16 times.

In an exclusive, People reports that “characters from the past and present coming together to celebrate her life.
This includes Maxie (Kirsten Storms), who has had a special connection to Bobbie since she was a young girl, Laura (Genie Francis), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Scott (Kin Shriner) and Carly (Laura Wright).
Also featured in the heartbreaking episodes are Finola Hughes (Anna) and Lynn Herring (Lucy), who was Jackie’s close friend in real life. Ryan Carnes, who played Lucas, will return for the tribute episodes, as well.”

And since this is a soap opera, there also will be drama galore when “a stranger’s surprise arrival unearths a shocking secret” that leads Carly and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) off on an adventure in Amsterdam, in order to take care of Bobbie’s unfinished business.
Bobbie was in Amsterdam to take care of the estate of her late brother Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) so this should be a unique and sentimental journey.

The outlet reveals that the upcoming tribute episodes “are filled with twists and feature lots of surprises that make the most of the show’s history.”
Wright told People “When we shot the memorial, the entire cast was there. And it wasn’t just for Bobbie; it was for Jackie as well … it was bittersweet. It was about Jackie and everyone was so present. … It was like we as a cast got to really say goodbye.”
When the filming was over the cast and crew stepped outside and were stunned and delighted to find a beautiful rainbow over the studio.
General Hospital spoilers- ABC Soap Celebrates 60 Years
The outlet reports that Bobbie’s memorial episodes are one of two specials airing in 2024. The other occurs Thursday, Jan. 4 when the network airs the primetime special General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling.
It is a “a fun love letter to the fans” that gives the audience a peek behind the scenes of the popular Port Charles-based show.
Fans will hear interviews with past and present stars including Amber Tamblyn and Rick Springfield. Bloopers will be shown plus a tribute to Zeman.
According to Wright the special is “super exciting. You see what it really takes to put a daytime show to together and how hard we work, from casting to writing, to directing, to producing.
By the time it gets to the actors, it’s a whole different ball game … There’s so many surprises, people are gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh!’
