GH Pay It Forward: Why Doesn’t Alexis Davis Want Justice For All?

On General Hospital, Alexis Davis thought she’d botched her attempted blackmail of Judge Kim when he refused to admit to any wrongdoing. As it turned out, while it looked like the judge called her bluff, he ended up setting Drew free anyway, and Gregory gave all the credit to Alexis. She shouldn’t feel bad. She helped a guilty man get out of prison. Her good friend, Diane, would be so proud! But should this victory be enough for the disbarred attorney? We think not.

Alexis Davis: Truth, Justice, and the American Way

Once upon a time, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) took pride in being an attorney. She relished helping out the little guy, the disenfranchised, the forgotten, the one who couldn’t catch a fair break unless Alexis was there to speak for the voiceless.

These days, as she admitted to Gregory (Gregory Harrison), it was less about doing the right thing — after all, there is the teeny, weeny little detail that Drew (Cameron Mathison) committed the crime he was convicted of and sent to jail for — and more about winning. Gregory didn’t think there was anything wrong with that. But the old Alexis would have.

The Me I Used To Be

The old Alexis would have realized that if Judge Kim gave Drew an unfair sentence, then he must be doing the same for others. The old Alexis would have wanted to stop him. She’d have taken her extortion up a notch — after all, she’s had practice now — and used the evidence she has proving that Judge Kim has rich friends from whom he takes gifts and used the evidence to free other guilty people.

People who, you know, aren’t her friends but deserve to be free just as much as Drew. (He doesn’t truly deserve to be free.) But, if Alexis used her dirty tricks for Drew’s sake, why not for the sake of the little guy, the disenfranchised, the forgotten, the one who couldn’t catch a fair break unless Alexis was there to speak for the voiceless? Like she used to.
