SAVANNAH CHRISLEY SHARES THAT TODD AND JULIE CHRISLEY LISTENED TO APPEAL HEARING FROM BEHIND BARS

The Chrisley family is still keeping their fingers crossed that their ongoing appeal will result in good news for a reduction in Todd and Julie Chrisley‘s lengthy prison sentences.

But as new updates make the outcome look more bleak, Savannah has shared that her parents have been listening to the trial from behind bars.

As Julie and Todd Chrisley await the verdict of their ongoing appeal, Savannah Chrisley has revealed that her parents are tuning in to the verdict from behind bars.

But it’s been getting harder and harder for fans to hold out hope.

“They listened in on the appeal, they listened to the arguments and now they’re back, just sitting there and hoping for change, hoping for something different, hoping for a different outcome,” Savannah shared on her podcast, Unlocked.

According to an update from People, Todd and Julie’s lawyer claimed that there was misconduct in their original trial, arguing that “the evidence suggested that the prosecutors here worked in concert with the witness.”

“First, the issue that was discussed that came out in the redirect and then the re-cross of Officer Betty Carter was whether the Chrisleys had paid taxes in the post-conspiracy period,” he claimed. “Now, the district court below confirmed that that would have a potential prejudicial effect on the defendants leading the jury to believe that they had not paid their taxes, that they weren’t interested in paying taxes, that they were untruth type of person who could commit fraud charged in the other acts. That effect spills over not just to the tax charges but to all of the fraud charges in this case.”

Unfortunately for the Chrisleys, the assistant U.S. attorney on the case argued that this was invalid.

“The evidence was overwhelming at trial that the Chrisleys had taken a number of steps to evade the IRS and they conspired to evade the IRS,” she claimed in court, according to People.

“So yes, if there are credible allegations and some evidence proffered about any sort of government misconduct a hearing should be had. That’s simply not what we have in this case.”

Savannah has previously shared that even if this appeal doesn’t play out the way they hope, the family has backup plans.

“If it doesn’t go in our direction, we have other avenues to take,” she recently shared on her podcast, Unlocked.

“Once again, like, super grateful for that, that there are other avenues due to how our trial played out that we could take to get a new trial or to you know just hopefully get them out early,” she elaborated on her podcast, People reports. “So when it comes to the appeal, that’s kind of where we’re at.”

While fans and family await the final ruling, Savannah is opening reliving a particularly difficult day – the last goodbye she had with her parents before they were imprisoned.

“Just watching them stand at their bedroom just hugging and kissing and not knowing…” Savannah recalled on a recent appearance on Good Morning America.

“You just hear 12 years, seven years — that’s a long time to be away from someone,” she shared.

She said that it went unsaid that she would be caring for Chloe and Grayson while her parents were in prison.

“It was just an unspoken thing,” she shared.

“Both the kids are in therapy every week,” Savannah added. “Unfortunately, they have to grow up a lot faster, but I would rather help teach them what’s going on in the right way than have the world interject and maybe teach them something that isn’t factual.”

But Savannah isn’t giving up hope.

“I think I motivate myself with replaying the image of my parents coming home,” she shared.

Of course, none of this is easy on Todd and Julie either, who have shared their struggles behind bars. A recent episode of Savannah’s Unlocked podcast, the 26-year-old read a letter that her mom wrote in June of 2023.

According to People, Julie penned, “I feel like I’ve experienced so many emotions in the past few months.”

The mother of three went into detail about things that she has missed with her family.

“I’ve survived Todd’s birthday, Mother’s Day, Gray’s birthday, Chase’s birthday, my anniversary and Father’s Day,” Julie continued. “That’s a lot of missed days that I can never get back.”

The former Chrisley Knows Best star added, “I can only pray that I don’t miss anymore.”

She expressed her regret at not being there for Grayson Chrisley as he went through a successful baseball season.

“I hate hate hate that I’m missing them, but my boy is doing so good,” Julie noted.
